Ministry Leader: Mr. Frank Cehulik

Can the message of our Gospel music actually draw folks to Christ?

According to this verse it can!

"And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God:

many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust,

and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies."

--Psalm 40:3,4

The purpose of the Music Ministry at Lighthouse Baptist Church is to honor God,

exalt Christ, encourage Christians, and draw the lost to our Saviour.  Bt, to accomplish these goals,

we must be careful to mix the proper words with the proper music.  The words of a song should only clarify what the music, to a great extent, already says.  The music and the message must agree, or "harmonize."

If they do not, confusion results, and confusion is not of God.

Deciding what is the appropriate message and accompaniment for our Gospel music at

Lighthouse Baptist Church is not accomplished with regard to our likes and dislikes only,

but on other important factors worthy of consideration, such as association -- that is,

who or what is generally associated with the music, and what do they, or what does it, represent.

Another consideration has to do with impression -- that is, what does the music bring to mind,

and where does it lead.  To be sure, the most important consideration is whether the music presentation,

as a whole, aligns with the Word of God.  The qualifications for participation in our Music

Ministry are not based simply on talent without regard to details such as testimony,

style -- that is, how the music is presented, and motive, but more with

attention to an individual's walk with God and his/her testimony.

"For God is not the author of confusion,

but of peace,as in all churches of the saints."

--1 Corinthians 14:33

The author of confusion has been working hard in these last days and, for the most part,

the churches have been fooled into believing that "attention-seeking" musicians presenting a

"me-centered" message is an acceptable way to influence this world for Christ.  It is not.

If you're looking for a church where neither the musician nor the music detracts from or distorts the

Gospel message, you need look no further.  Our music at Lighthouse Baptist Church is not for entertainment, but is meant to prepare your heart for the preaching of the Gospel -- the primary reason for our church attendance -- with beautiful, understandable, Christ-honoring, God-exalting, Spirit-filled music.

Come, sing hymns along with our congregation...hymns filled with Biblical substance.

Let our Adult Choir minister to your deepest cares and our Children's Choir delight you to smiles.

Our ensembles, quintets, quartets, trios, soloists, instrumentalists and accompanists work

very hard to prepare music that lifts high the King of kings and ministers to you.

--See you at Lighthouse!
